NEWS from Lisa: Ho Ho Ho!
November was a month full of exhibitions, commissions, and Christmas event planning. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since we moved here and settled into a place where art became part of our everyday life. Firstly through painting, then sharing the studio for up to four Kids Art classes and one Girls’ Night Art class per week. Then gradually, over the past 14 years, as my personal art practice shifted from painting to sculpture, the studio became predominantly a ceramics studio with 2-3 open studio sessions per week and many, intermittent ceramics workshops. So our Christmas ’22 studio event this year is a nice chance to celebrate 20 years enjoying and developing this creative space. It has brought a special community of like-minded people together who we thank for their support, loyalty and patience, especially as we pivoted and segued through some challenging years. It takes a village to help a project and space like this stay relevant and fun and we thank everyone who has helped us over so many years.

The first joint workshop with the Bakehouse Shed Marrickville was held over the past 4 weeks. Participants learned new ceramic and woodworking skills with Lisa, Sara and Scott, to build some beautiful, bespoke boxes from recycled timber with slab rolled ceramic lids, topped off with hand sculptured and painted ceramic knobs.
Thanks to our first group of participants for taking the plunge on this new endeavour.

Many of the Bakehouse Studio artists enjoyed contributing work to the Connie Dimas’ Artisans Collective for a special Christmas shopping night held in November. It was a great night and enjoyed by many customers.

Annual Christmas Celebration and Studio Sale
Our annual Christmas show will open on Friday December 2nd from 5-8pm and continue over Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of December from 10am - 4pm. Come along to celebrate the end of a huge year and pick up some recently made, unique, bespoke, Christmas gifts.
We are very grateful to have Mobius Distillery sponsoring our gin bar again this year. They will also have available some of their other award winning products such as Limoncello, for tastings.
