NEWS from Lisa: Happy Healthy New Year!

What a whirlwind of events December brought us this year: from the annual Bakehouse Christmas Sale and Celebration, the Makersville Christmas Market, the Art-In-Transit Pop-Up-Shop to the annual Christmas Candle Woman Workshops, and final Open Studio on Friday 23rd .

Thanks to all the artists who have contributed to these fabulous events. It’s great to see your work reach audiences beyond the Bakehouse Studio, supporting and promoting other locally-made and hand-made initiatives.

It sure is nice to take the foot off the pedal for a while now. Since the studio doors closed I’ve been working like an Artist-In (My-Own)-Residence, playing with new ideas and finalising my last commission for the season.

I’ve also enjoyed occasional drop-ins for pottery pick-ups and seeing the happy responses people have in finding their work finished, better than imagined.

New Totem Workshops are now scheduled for 2024.

January heralds more creative ceramic experiments and another series of totem-based workshops. These have been designed to teach cascading levels of hand-building and glazing to help you develop and grow your skills. Check out the January – August schedule here.

Also new to the Studio is a tiny creative inspo coffee sipping spot using recycled furniture from the Art-In-Transit Pop Up Shop. It features a monthly selection of different books and magazines to give you inspiration for your studio work. So if you are in need of some new ideas or approaches, please drop in for a coffee in January and browse through some of the wonderful Bakehouse books of the month or tell me your current curiosities and I’ll help you find the right resources for your own particular interests to propel you into another great year of creative play.

Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you at the Bakehouse soon!
