NEWS from Lisa: Mindful March

Flying through February into March saw the completion of Emilie, my first black and white totem which, hoorah to Karin Adcock (owner of Winmark Wines), sold soon after delivery to her Winmark Gallery in Broke. Emilie will be shipped off to Victoria, a state that seems to love my work.

Meanwhile back in Sydney, Beach Ball was reinstalled at Gallery Lowe and Lee for their annual exhibition celebrating Mardi Gras. After the opening night crowds of Ave Mardi Gras subsided, the Gallery still looked like it was partying with my life-size figure sculptures of Paula, Paloma, Paulina and their half and quarter-size maquettes taking lioness’ share of the front window like the true exhibitionists they are..

Wood Fungi Sculpture for Eco Echo Exhibition at Gallery Lowe and Lee, opening Friday April 8th

For the next Gallery Lowe and Lee show called Eco Echo, I have been experimenting with ceramic fungi sculptures made to fit natural reclaimed off-cuts of Burl timber. You can see these together with three endangered bird sculptures from Friday March 8, with the exhibition to be opened by Powerhouse curator Eva Czernis-Ryl till 6th April.

Also this month Gustava, Henrietta and Frida will be exhibited in the CBD Gallery for a show called Inspire & Evolve: Celebrating International Womens’ Day to be opened by Grace Cochrane AM, Thursday March 7th. Hope you can join me to see these three sculptures lit up together in the Big Smoke to celebrate women artists and muses.
