NEWS from Lisa: NOTEWORTHY in November
It’s official! October is definitely my favourite time of the year and not only because its my birthday month. Highlights this year were again, the Sydney Ceramics Market and Sculptures in the Garden, at Rosby Wines, Mudgee. Both exhibitions were a great success for me and I’m very grateful to the organisers of these two large events for promoting my work and making it such a pleasure to participate. Many thanks firstly to Samee and Melody and their volunteers for allocating me Stand #1 at Carriageworks, next to an amazing exhibition of contemporary ceramics titled Reciprocity. With record numbers of visitors, I made lots of new contacts and ceramic art patrons.
Thanks also to the Norton-Knight family of Rosby Wines: Kay, Gerry, Amber and Cameron and all their volunteers for great placements and sale of my three sculptures in their beautiful gallery and garden. It was a pleasure to spend some time on this inspiring property for both the opening and closing of this annual art prize.
Talking to Sculptor David Ball at the annual Chardonnay Lunch hosted by Winmark Wines.
In between these two events, I also enjoyed a birthday celebration at the annual Chardonnay Lunch hosted by Winmark Wines, Gallery & Sculpture Park. At this event the new Winmark Blanc de Blanc sparkling chardonnay was launched next to, and named after, David Ball’s impressive steel sculpture Biosis. A walk through the Sculpture Park after lunch and a swim in the pool with some more Biosis bubbles, ended the day perfectly.
In these economically difficult times, and at all these events, it was reassuring to be in the company of so many art lovers. The look of pure joy on viewers’ faces when they encountered my work was the best birthday present of all!
In the Studio
Back in the studio I’m now preparing for my last two workshops for the year, the Blue Mountains Ceramic Christmas Sale at Wentworth Falls and our annual Christmas Studio Show on the first weekend of December. This year I’m happy to announce the following exhibitors: Jo Boag, Sara Buchner, Cally Bruer, Lisa Godwin, Vicki Klay, Monika Lensce, Cardi McAuslan, Cath Miers, Jim O’Brien, Sally Steele and Deb Wilkes. Hope you can join us for this fun event.

Exhibitions: Right Here Right Now
Luba Bosch, Peta Hinton, Louise Kerr, Adrienne Richards & Kate Robinson | Right Here, Right Now
I had the very fortuitous pleasure of attending the opening of an incredible exhibition while visiting ceramics colleague Sharron Mountain in Springwood last Saturday. Five artists: Peta Hinton, Luba Bosch, Louise Kerr, Kare Robinson and Adrienne Richards exhibited their beautifully curated and complementary collection of ceramics, paintings, drawings and sculpture across the three rooms of historic Braemar House Gallery. The artists shared concepts around being in the present and taking inspiration from the world around them, while combining materiality with the act of being present and constantly making. This show brought me so much joy and is a must-see. It continues till 23rd November.

Looking for a shared woodwork shed in Sydney?
You’ve found it!
The Bakehouse Shed in Marrickville is a space for people with a woodwork project but no space. Or machines, or tools.
It's even for people with no skills and only a vague idea about what end of a hammer to hold.
Perhaps you want to fix something.
Or restore something.
Or make something from scratch.
This is a relaxed, inclusive community space where you can work on your own project with the good humoured guidance of Scott - and YouTube.
Drop in for a visit and a chat.
